Recent Stuff

AI Search Engine Drama Club
Hi everybody - this first part is about a problem in blogging and search engines dealing with your work. Plus a bit about AI search engines that actually will have an argument with you rather than check because they are lazy and dont want to bother if they can BS instead.

As I'm rewriting rules its slow and im trying to synthesise my old posts and homebrew rules versions into a new one.

Google and search engines have become useless at finding posts on my blog by title. Doing recent research to consolidate all my spirit posts i wanted two posts on dungeon spirits from 2018:

https://elfmaidsandoctopi.blogspot.com/2018/09/dungeon-spirits.html

https://elfmaidsandoctopi.blogspot.com/2018/05/d100-dungeon-spirits.html

Several search engines wouldnt locate them.
They kept making links with titles using the phrase i wanted. But the links went to off topic posts. I asked to exclude words in those titles and it took quite a bit of messing around but it just dumped about its shortcomings why it fails and how those posts had not been found by spiders or quoted in SSR feeds to rate a part of reality. Two posts my name. The exact dates were the final way to get searches but its not remembering.

Possibly we writing this will br browsed and used to improve my next search because, when I asked about why it kept giving same wrong results it quoted me complaining about this before. Maybe it will quote this next time (Hi there).

So If anyone visited those links and better still share or post links and maybe my research ability will improve.

Letting me know about what your favourite posts are is very useful because the 30000+ bot views I get a day wont give me any feedback. It does help me work on stuff more and might make me return to a compilation using it. Maybe i could make a survey. Blog metrics are ruined by Bots.

14 years and 2800 posts so finding stuff is sometimes hard. The two links on my Blogger search placed these two specific titled posts in the 30s on search results despite being exact matches.

Life Crap
Possibly as I'm getting my shit together in life but I'm limited in my earnings on my partial pensions (really its the paperwork). So Im studying now so when im employed and dont have study time to worry about, I imagine I will be more interested in revising old projects in a more serious way and not on Patreon. I get limited feedback to knowing what Patrons want is kind of hard and deadlines were not much fun. Its easier for me to get paid into a few large payments a year. So a few books done slowly will probably be the plan in a year. Maybe I will do a channel also if I'm going to publish more seriously. Yes I can lease prior posts for other games if anyone is interested in my IP.

If anyone finds AI images in my old posts, let me know. I'm slowly removing them all and went back to stealing images the old-fashioned internet way after a few months. There is a post where I discuss AI and apply to my work, which I will amend and/or a post on why my AI curiosity dropped to hatred over a period due to the tech bro actors and DATA centres water/power use.

My band page had a typo issue and Searches struggle to reach our page by name by trying to find the older typo version which sucks a bit too.

Homebrew
My character gen stuff is functional enough for me to make a character in my game but I do hope to finish. After weeks still working on weapon tables and equiptment lists im still going. I streamlined some stuff, which will affect skill lists. Spell list then skills then finish character options. New classes are working. Ran Bats of St Abbans by Glynn Seal. It ran well over 6 hours. It could be 1-4th lv easily and even a solo adventure. Its the best cathedral map and adventure Ive found yet and would work in lots of settings. The old cathedral's magic defences and things you discover on the way are definitely part of the fun outside the mission. You could run it faster but people would miss lots. You could run it longer, especially with more players as too many detectives spoil the mystery pacing. More players tend t speculate more on all the problems that can use time but it could be fun too. Lots of fun illustrated NPCs and Bats!  Very roleplay, exploration and problem-solving over combat and it wasn't too perilous but was spooky.

Our Plucky Fishman pugilist, a priest and some flunkies (a feral halfling boy, a religious guardsman and a donkey) got to work finding bat nests, trying to find way around, searching for clues, helping a mouse civilisation, finding old relics and curses and blessings. They found the nicest ending and did some excorcisms on the way. Very fun adventure as a one off or inserted in a campagn.
