Chagrinspire Timequakes





































So the adventurers are weirded out by bizarre clues of the ancients and working out what stuff is happening in the region. But is it really enough?

So the steamcore to decopunk tech of the apocalypse war at its peak survives in the region after a thousand years its because time works differently. Material goods in the waste, when the spire lost control of the great null sphere, do not age the normal way. Corpses in the mud also don't rot the same. This seems to be ending. So many of those dead have become undead and the area is haunted by ghosts and spirits and spectral entities. Besides the guns and technology found here even metal scrap is more pure steel than modern people make and often it has mild +0 zero enough to harm some magical creatures. 

Weirdos from the apocalypse war vanished and can appear also and can restock any areas with vicious ancients with their superior killing methodology. 

Importing lots of my weird war book content into the Chagrinspire vol3 as I didn't mention too much mythos IP. It was a time i was doing lots of non mythos  settings and settings where the mythos wasn't the main problem like roadwar2000, vikings, ancient Babylon, cthulhu space. Im really sick of victorian and deco occultism. It feels too recent and all coming back in vogue. Overfloged in comics since like 4 brit writers started in 80s but it has deep roots in pop culture. 

d12 Why a Phenomenon
1 Crystals fell from the sky and weird lights interacted with the local auroras of the region
2 Someone has activated a magical apparatus of the ancients in a hidden dungeon
3 Something fell from the sky years ago and has now grown into an alien horror from beyond which now has the power to warp reality

achine has grown from an ancient crater, it towers over land and drains life and probability potential from the land. Some kind of doomsday weapon, as it awakens underground local reality is damaged
5 Primord beings of chaos and arkons of law battling in a nearby plane are briefly seen by the sensitive or certain senses that can see spirits or other planes 
6 A demonic cult has been summoning and ancient apparatus to manipulate the planes begins to try and inhibit intrusions. Those wise in Time Lore may be able to intervene to stop the problem
7 Scavengers have found a strange ancient vehichle and inside is a strange gem that is in fact a fragment of stasis used to power the machine. 
8 A mad prophet of the outer gods has damaged local time and space
9 A luminous flying orb is seen just before the phenomena started, people wildly speculate about their nature d4 1=willow-the-whisp 2=time elemental 3=star people! 4=gnomes!

d12 Warnings of a Phenomenon
1 Arc of electricity from earth or lightning fin sky for a d4 rounds, smell of ozone, some technology requires a save or stunned
2 Magnetic surge, compass spins and metal objects shake and magnetic for a d10 rounds, some technology requires a save or stunned
3 Rippling in the air, visual shimmering distortions in air, weird vibrating whine sound, teeth chatter, glass breaks   
4 Sensation of everything frozen and crackling and grating sounds d3 rounds
5 Ground vibrates, fine dust and light objects float for a d6 rounds, save or fall over each round if you don't hold on
6 Everything seems to be vibrating for a d4 round, in the last round save or pass out from a headache for d3 hours (all awake at the same time)
7 See a weird mirror image of your older self for a d3 round from a parallel timeline that might happen, they might have a note or gift prepared as they remember when you met before 
8 See a weird mirror image of your older self for a d3 round from a parallel timeline with opposite alignment and some other cosmetic variations (pointy beards, eye-patch, spikes)
9 Strange sounds or music, eerie and coming from an uncertain place 
10 Spirits of the area become visible and flee
11 Portal opens and a gnome with an apparatus comes out to scan the phenomena
12 Celestial elf or wizard arrives in a crystal ornithopter shaped like a bird (or griffon, dragon, sphynx from the sky realms of the night sky and uses the temporal effect to charge a magic item or to time travel or stop the effect

Touching yourselves in other times should probably damage the universe
Maybe someone planned this all along to blame adventurers for some plot
Might be seasonal allowing players to predict and use them
Some of the ancient iron pylon towers of the ancients have been drawing on this power in places. 

d12 Temporal Phenomenon
1 Tear-like portal opens, will transport any who enter d10km away in a random direction
2 Tear-like portal opens, will transport any who enter a d6 days or longer into the past
3 Tear-like portal opens, will transport any who enter a d6 days or longer into the future
4 Everybody ages into wizened scrawny elderly too feeble to do much, field lasts a d4 hours
5 Everybody ages into wizened scrawny elderly too feeble to do much, field lasts a d4 hours
6 Everybody de-ages into children, field lasts a d4 hour or as long as is funny (maybe their followers can raise them till they are old enough to go adventuring again)
7 Everybody sees themselves die, wither to a skeleton then dust then back again
8 Everybody sees themselves devolve into an increasingly moronic ape creature, then into a synapsid, then a salamander, a fish, down to a pool of protoplasm then back
9 Everybody feels souls vibrate out of their bodies into astral forms for a d10 rounds, they see their bodies lying unconscious and can save to return in one round if they panic
10 A stone pylon appears, then an open door appears within to an extradimensional control room with a stone altar with a grid of mysterious crystals. Possible a time machine or environmental or temporal control station
11 Tear-like portal opens into the interstitial time between time where time elementals and kronovores dwell. After 3 hours lawful entities will arrive to repair the breach try to fix any damage done and find who did this
12 Great eye appears in sky to gaze on this reality, if it sees interesting things it uses telekinesis to pull into itself a living gate god from overspace

If players opt to accidently destroy the universe let them, then rewind tp before they broke it and lawful entities fix the arrow of time by attacking who caused problems or arrest them and take them to metatemporal trancentral. Law patched up the cosmos after the apocalypse war to some degree but they do come to this reality more often. Unfortunately, if law spirits souls are destroyed the cosmos is forever unstable unless replaced by worthy worshipers elevated to the power of the arkons. 

Chaos might get involved but near chagrinspire the chaos hordes let law fix the universe. They might even stop anyone meddling with Law.
