Special Encounters on dungeon to town path

Do your players want a long rest again and real food not full of yellow mould spores and dungeon weevils? But they barely spent spells and have half their HP left why do they want to recover? So making regular trips increases the likelihood of new encounters to and from the dungeon. Lots of these wait till adventurers return to come out. By this time more locals watch party comings and goings and some might even use divination to predict when loaded adventurers limping home.
