If he's gone through some shit, and has to recover somehow, we want to see that recovery. Instead of "rebooting" and showing us his tragedy again, we just see his recovery. It's like showing just Act 2. I think it's great because the movie has its own arc separate from Max while still advancing Max's arc, it doesn't waste our time retreading old news, and it sets us up for a roughly repaired Max in the next movie.

The despair that we see in their world is mitigated by the hope that so many in it have. Why ignore their hope just because from our perspective their world is crappy? And why would we want to see Max's world fixed? It's great watching because of how awful it is.

The movie on its own was just pretty great as a Mad Max world movie. Let me tell you, I'm not a particular fan of Mad Max - it's in my list of good movies and cool genres but I wasn't gripping a bent tire iron waiting to see it - and I typically don't rewatch movies. But this one I would be willing to see again. Sounds like damning with faint praise, but it's the most glowing praise possible from my perspective. The breeding stock escapees were not just helpless pretty moppets but a diverse range of characters with their own capabilities and personalities. We also get a better look at Max than we did in the original 2nd and 3rd films.
The interesting range of bad guys intrigued me, I would have enjoyed learning more about them.
JDsivrajhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10674833512849495283noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-737809845612070971.post-38940618309426109722015-05-26T07:16:16.032-07:002015-05-26T07:16:16.032-07:00It was brought out by mens movement (anti suffrage...It was brought out by mens movement (anti suffragettes in new clothes) complaining women in film too tough and bad role models - wanted film bannedKonsumterrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18170560484656800416noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-737809845612070971.post-56399152520582723332015-05-26T07:09:03.922-07:002015-05-26T07:09:03.922-07:00I think max made me sad because he reminds me of c...I think max made me sad because he reminds me of committed homeless people - unwilling to dig self out and get off the life he is compelled to wallow in - survival stops you dwelling on or dealing with problems - biggest changes were some new tats, scars and haircutKonsumterrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18170560484656800416noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-737809845612070971.post-28292176824895924532015-05-26T01:04:22.873-07:002015-05-26T01:04:22.873-07:00I totally missed the whole Feminist thing in this ...I totally missed the whole Feminist thing in this movie...oh well.ERIC!https://www.blogger.com/profile/18251132223571608976noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-737809845612070971.post-32549787820086779832015-05-25T21:26:11.634-07:002015-05-25T21:26:11.634-07:00Not only is Max rather mad, but Furiosa finds her ...Not only is Max rather mad, but Furiosa finds her dreamland rotted away and can't escape the fortress of dying mutants.
